i have been ridin my new 97 f3 for about a week now, and sometimes when i really get on it in first gear and go to shift to second, it will slip out of gear and go into neutral. also it sometimes makes a little noise when shifting down from second to first. i am really nervous about this and hope my tranny is not going bad? please advise!!! thanks

Run it till it breaks. Slipping into neutral like that isn't uncommon, you just have to spend more time riding to learn to avoid it.

how fast are you goin when shifting from second to first ? slippin in neutral is a common thing as mentioned i find with my f3 i just had to give a little extra on the shift to solve that prob the other gears shift easy but for 1st to 2nd i give it a little extra .the only situation where i go from 2nd to first is when coming to a complete stop and i dont put the bike into 1st unless i am sure i am goin to pull a complete stop . 1st gear is not really to ride in its just a take off point then immediately into second the bike is more controlled imo

When shifting from 1st to 2nd, just make sure that you give it a full shift. It is common to slip in to neutral, but you've got to learn to make the full shift. The gap between 1st and 2nd is the biggest and requires the most effort.

As far as 2nd to 1st, WHen do you make this shift? When coming to a stop? Try to match RPM's on the downshift. Blipping the throttle usually helps. 1st gear is a very short gear so it's going to make a sound when shifting from 2nd to 1st.
