Default Swapping Chain Help!

I've got everything off, but my drive sprocket. Which way do I turn it? is it reverse or normal threads? also, is it safe to put it in 1st gear to hold the sprocket?

Normal thread, use an impact to loosen if you have one.

Normal threads, counter-clockwise to remove. If you don't have an impact wrench, no worries. Put the bike in 6th gear, have someone press on the rear brake. You'll then be able to remove the bolt with no problem. Putting the bike in 6th gear gives you the greatest mechanical advantage between the rotation of the sprocket and the engine.

or just put a pipe over the breaker bar for more leverage with the bike in gear and the rear brake on. oh, you should loosen it before you take the chain off.
