Default Stator Question!!!

Ive been having some electrical problems and found out that I have a bad stator, which seems to be tipical of f3s. I found a guy who I was gonna buy a stator from, however, he said he wasent sure if I needed to replace the regulator/rectifier also. Would it do any damage if I just replace the stator and keep the same rectifier?

Default RE: Stator Question!!!

well there must be a reason why your stator went bad. and the lectrical system works off of 3 basics Stator, Battery and reg.rec. if any 1 of these 3 pieces starts to fail it can and will cause damage to the other pieces. how much damage is hard to say but can lead to full out failure. so if you know for fact your stator is the problem and replace it and dont replace the reg/rec you could wear out your stator again.

just curious what process did you use to determine your stator was bad ?

Default RE: Stator Question!!!

well this is my first bike, and im still learning about the electrical system, so I took it to a friend of mine who had an f3 and had worked on it for years. I told him what happened and he immediatly suspected a bad stator. I left it with him for a couple of days, and he confirmed a bad stator. Not really too sure what exactly he used to determine that, but Ill definatly find out.
