Default sprocket noise?

i have this noise coming from my front sprocket. i had a mechanic look at it and he said he doesnt think that it is the sprocket. he said the sprocket is a little bit worn but not to the point where it should be making a noise like that. the chain looks good and so does the rear sprocket. it started making this noise after i was riding home one night and the chain had losened up a little bit. thanks for reading any advice will be greatly appreiated.

A few things can cause chain and sprocket noise. Worn sprockets (which you say they're not), loose chain, impropperly aligned rear wheel and sprocket. A loose chain can cause excessive noise. Check your manual for proper slack settings. What type of noise is it ? When do you hear it ? Idling, low speed, high speed ?

Like the others have suggested, check you chain for tightness & rear wheel alignment & lube the chain at the same time. Chains never wear evenly, so even when adjusted correctly (always adjust the chain at its tightest point) You will get noise as the tight & loose sections of the chain go over the sprockets. Even on a new(ish) chain you will get some noise.

i had a squeaking noise coming from the front sprocket last week and after a new set of tires it was gone so i can only see that it was the rear wheel alignment that was off.

I had the same problem, and making the chain just a bit tighter fixed it right up
