Default Shock gave up the Ghost - Need Specs!!

Hey all, I need some help here. Last night I was working on the bike (96 CBR600F3) and happened to brush the shock reservoir hose, I noticed the cap on the reservoir that the hose attaches to the hose seemed loose, I made the mistake of jiggling it and heard a quick hiss that sounded like all the nitrogen coming out of the shock... CRAP!! Was wondering why it seamed to sit a little too low... I assume, because I can't find anything (work at a Honda shop in the parts department) that this isn't rebuildable... Racetech does offer the parts, but I can't find anyone posting how to do it (any links would be nice). I'm looking into a used one off ebay, because I can't afford a Ohlins or something nice right now. I've heard the 96 is a different length of shock than the 97-98, and some people have put on the F4i shock. Just wondering if anyone has measurements (off the bike) for the 96, the 97-98 and possibly an F4i (if there are different lengths for diffent years of F4 those too). I want to try and use my stock dogbone and linkage and I don't mind if it sits a little higher and turns in a bit different. Any help would be great. Thanks All!!

I am sure it can be recharged, one one the motocross guys can do it, they rebuild and charge shocks all the time.

I did notice several on ebay.

I think there is a valve on the shock body up by the top mount.

If not your correct and it's ebay for a used shock...

Good luck!

Nope, did the samething, it would have cost me $400.00 to have the F3 shock rebuilded. Look though the club and saw that the F4i would work and lift up the rear a bit higher. Look at a couple of bike with it install and was sold.

The only issues is the hose is mounted on the other side of the shock and that hangy thingy is mounted by the idle adjuster ****.

I am 6'4" and i love it, don't feel like I am on a little bike.

If you under 6' in height I wouldn't suggest getting the F4i and just stick with the f3.

See my bike with the F4i shock on
