I did call, that's for both. If I bring in just the wheels and tires it'd be about $30 per tire. However, I don't have stands or room in the garage for a set of stands. We could probably figure out something, but I'd rather just take it in.

If you're looking at being serious about riding, looking to ride enough to go thru 2 sets of tires, you can get a tire changer w/ motorcycle tire adapter for $118 total + tax (or shipping).

The ONLY reason I didn't get one the first time is because I thought without garage space it'd be impractical. When my Shinkos need to be replaced, **** it I'm going to Harbor Freight.

Sarah, if both you and your boyfriend ride I'd seriously consider getting the changer and doing it yourselves. The changer will pay for itself after 2 changes.

My bike length might increase 6" or so when up on stands. When its not on the stands, the stands are in the basement.

Thanks for the tip, but I'd really rather just take it in. I just never listen, do I?

Heh no worries. When they were talking almost as much to change the tires as the cost of the tires, I figured not again.

And I didn't like how the local shop changed them (didn't attempt to protect the rims)

As is, it will destroy your rims with huge red scratches, by the way. To properly change your tires, you will need a different lever and rim holders, plus a balancer. You still get out way cheap, though. All this is about $250 more. (MojoLever, Mojoblocks, and balancer).

With track tires, I've changed probably 50 or 60 sets total in the last couple of years, we have "tire changing parties", great time. I never charge, but everybody ends up buying me lunch or dinner on rides.
