Default Right front caliper shaking

All,
Good afternoon everyone, I just got back from what wound up being a fairly quick afternoon ride. As I left my house i just happened to look down through the front fairing and saw my right side caliper shaking. I continued on to get gas and while i was there, i checked it out. The whole right side caliper shakes a little. I am not talking about a huge shake, just maybe 2 mm or so. the strange thing is the other side has no play at all. It stops great, doesnt jerk or anything. Just wondering if i am being overly critical or a goodun, I pulled on them pretty hard on the way back home and had no problems. back in my drive way I checked everything and its all tight, I am really at a loss, any thoughts???? Cletus

I checked both my F3's. Each of the callipers has a little play in them if you grab a hold. When I apply the front brake though there is no movement at all while engaged.Based on what you're saying, I'd be more concerned with the one that doesn't move. The brake callipers aren't solidly mounted, they actually float freely on 2 bolts, called amazingly enough Bolt A and Bolt B.1 bolt is attached tothe calliper, the other attached to the bracket thats attached to the fork tube.If the calliper is not allowed to move freely, then it could be causing premature wear of your pads by not releasing the brakes entirely. Turn the front wheel to one side or the other and observe the movement of the callipers from behind the wheelwhile you have somone else actuate the front brake lever. They should each have similar movement when grabbing the rotor and then relaxing again. If they seem to both grab and then release, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sounds like you may have a warped Rotor on the right side. It's not that big of a deal as long as you don't mind. I've had this from wrecking before, the rotor was so warped that you could feel violent shaking/pulsing when applying front brakes. As long as your not feeling this "pulsing" and you can still brake fine, I'd just leave it alone. Rotors are expensive, and you never know what shape the next used one will be in.

Thanks to you two for your help. I think I am was just a little weirded out by it. I dont remember my Hurricane ever being like that, but then again that was over ten years ago, and i dont really think i was looking through the fairing at the front brake, unless it was to see where i was going . Thanks again for the help. Troy

Sounds like a bent rotor.

You can straighten them, but if there isn't any "pulsing" when the brakes are applied,I wouldn't sweat it.
