Default Help! Front Wheel/Steering Shaking

Hi guys,

Finally registered and posted (lurked for a few months.. )

I have a question. I have a 1988 Honda CBR600F1 Hurricane (29k miles). My handle bars shake at approximately 65mph everytime I go on the thruway. This problem is ONLY at ~65mph - anything more or less does not make it shake. My wheel weights are still in place on the front wheel. What parts should I be checking to see what's causing the problem? Bearings? (I have a Clymer manual but not sure where to start - I want to see if I can do some of this stuff myself before consulting the dealer) My front tire looks like it could be replaced in the near future but how could I tell if this is causing the problem?

Thank you so much in advance!

I had the same problem at approx. 100 mph on mine with an old tire. I got a new tire and the shaking went away.
If you need a new tire then that willl probably cure the shaking problem.

hi there, most likely probs would be a warped front break disc or as u said loose headset bearings, altho if ya tyre needs changing i'd do this first as u dont wanna test high speeds on a dodgy tyre, hope that helps.
