Default Popping sound from exhaust

I have a 98 600F3 and I just noticed the other day that after I ride and it gets up to operating temp and I shut it off that it will make a popping sound from what I think is coming from the exhaust. I can't quite pin point it, but thats where it sounds like its coming from. It will make the sound about every 30 seconds or so. Any ideas? Just trying to figure out what it is and if it is anything to worry about. Thanks for any help.

Is it a sound that sounds like metal cracking/popping?

That's just the materials expanding and contracting. Nothing to worry about.

Yes thats kinda what it sounds like, but the only thing is its never done that before, I just kind of find it weird that it's doing it all the sudden out of nowhere. Thanks for the reply.

Find someone with an IR temp fun and see what temps your pipes are getting to if you think there is something wrong. Has the engine's performance changed at all?

It's not happening while the bike is running, right? You notice it when you turn the engine off, correct? And it's not insanely loud, as in, you couldn't hear it over the noise of the engine if it was running, yes?

No the bikes performance is fine. Running great... Its not running hot and I as soon as I get off the bike I can put my hand on the pipe like I have always been able to do, so its not to hot...I don't notice or can't tell if its doing it while Im riding, but I can't hear it and Ive been listening for it... no its not any louder than normal either... and yes I only notice it when I turn the engine off.

I'm pretty sure it's the normal expanding and contracting of materials. You should be alright.
