Please Help! I'm about to go crazy! It just won't start
I recently bought a 97 cbr 600f3 with only 9k on it. Went and checked it out twice before I bought it and it started fine and sounded great. Picked up the bike and brought it home. I rode it for about half an hour when I got home and it ran and rode great. The next morning I started it and it fired up just fine. One day later I tried to start it and it wouldn't start up. It's turning over and firing but just won't start up. Now the bike had a tune up done in Dec. and had new plugs, air filter, and carbs cleaned. I took the plugs out and they look brand new and don't appear to be fouled out. The gaps are correct and everything. I even took the air filter out and tried to start it but still nothing. I drained the battery trying to start it. I have since charged the battery and last night tried to start it again. It fired and almost started but died after a second or two of running.
I need the laymans explanation on how to possibly fix this and get it fired up so I can ride. I know very little about motorcycles as this is my first. I've always known that all I need is spark, fuel, and air to make it start but I have those and...nothing.
Does anyone have any advice? This is making me crazy and I'm on the brink of losing my mind. Please help!

You said it yourself bro!! The three things you need are (1) Air - New air filter (2) Spark - New plugs (3) Fuel - ???? Cleaned carbs?? thats only a small part of the fuel systm. how does your fuel filter look?? Also have you looked at the fuel pump yet? and not to undermind you but do you have fuel in the tank? and is the fuel valve open? [sm=signs003.gif]
shoot a small bit of starting fluid into the carbs and see if it fires,if it does you know you have a fuel issue.if it doesnt you know its spark related.good luck
I have been using the choke while cold starting. There is a full tank of gas and the fuel valve is set to on. I had thought about trying a shot of starter fluid but wanted to try the obvious, or not so, before I did that. I haven't checked the fuel filter but if I remember right, it was changed when the tune up was done. I also had a friend who owns a couple bikes as well is a mechanic at a VW dealer(whatever) and he checked two of the plugs and the spark was great. Like I said, there is gas in the tank. The bitch of this is I even looked at the manual and tried every different starting option given. FRUSTRATED!
hey so it sounds like fuelisnt getting to the system?
try running fuel direct to fuelfilter. by passing fuelpump.
my fuelpump just went out too and thats what it sounds like

Not disagreeing with the other suggestions, but try a different starting ritual. Don't turn on the fuel, Do turn on the choke, Don't use the throttle, Do try & crank the motor till it starts.
If you think you may have flooded the engine, then. Don't turn on the fuel, Don't use the choke, Turn the throttle all the way open & hold it there (don't twist it on & off), Crank the motor till it starts. Just another suggestion, are you turning the petrol off when your leaving it O/N? & Is the kill switch in the off position?

I agree with pr0jktmayhem. It sounds like a no fuel issue. Do as he says and try bypassing the fuel pump to see if the bike runs.
