its leaking from the small nipple at the bottom and there is no hose that attaches to it. any body knows what that is for. i went all thru the manual and it doesnt clearly state what that little nipple is for. but on my bike, it just drips

the manual petcock doesn't have that small nipple on the bottom. (or it shouldn't). Kinda sounds like someone put a manual switch (f3) on a vacuum controlled (f2) petcock body maybe? take a pic if possible so we can better help =)
I know on my tank I put the hose clamp too far back on the hose and it was leaking, moved the clamp and haven't had an issue since.

hey man im new to the forum, but i have a 95 F3 and had the same problem among other things...we tried to tighten it up but it would just keep leaking. I read on a site that when you buy a used one ur supposed to soak it in gasoline i think for 24 hrs so everything can seal up tight...bcuz we were having to take off my tank several times, it must have come unsealed...i ended up just having to order a new one (i didnt have to saok the new one)...i dont think they are too expensive...it took care of the problem though...

the f2 had a vacuum operated petcock, so when the bike was running it would turn on/ off automatically. the small nipple at the bottom was for the vac line to plug into. There should be a rubber diaphragm in it. maybe try pulling it apart and see if that got torn somehow. Or if they fitted a manual f3 switch to it it may just need some more gasket sealant. be sure to get the stuff approved for gasoline applications.
