oil change question
i just changed my oil the other day. i had a couple questions about the oil filter. i was looking at the manual and noticed that there is an O ring that comes off the original oil filter. when i changed my oil filter i didnt pay attention to whether or not the new filter had a O ring in it. do new oil filters come with O rings in them? or did i just F up and throw the O ring away with the used oil filter. another question is i notices my bike would start smoking a little bit after about 10 minutes of riding. im assuming this is the oil that i spilled while removing the original oil filter. is my asumtion wrong? i sure hope not. let me know what you guys think.
When I replaced my oil filter its was like the one’s used on cars in the aspect that the rubber is part of the filter or stuck on to it. It didn’t come separate. So if there’s no oil leaking from where it fits, I wouldn’t worry (It’s sealing)
In terms of the smoking problem. If the bike wasn’t smoking before you changed the oil, it could be:
You are using the wrong grade of oil (it could be too thin)
You just put to much oil. The oil then pushes thru the breather into the carbs hence you burn oil. If it’s not to much I’d just drive it till the access oil has burnt away but if it’s a lot it’s better to drain some of it
