Need Help-Idle Time Question
Hello All,
I have a 1996 Honda CBR 600 F3. I have been driving this bike for a couple of months now. Recently the idle time on my bike is fluctuating. Before last week, the idle time was constantly around 1500 RPM (may be slightly higher). For the last few days, the idle time when I start and even after driving for while is around 1500, but drops to 1000 RPM or even less at times. Not sure what's going on. When I am stopped at the signal, it almost feels like the bike is gonna turn off (the rpm just fluctuates between 1000 & 1500 RPM, but stays below 1500 most of the time.
Please let me know if this is something I should be concerned about. Once I start driving, everything seems ok, but when I stop in signal in neutral, the RMP fluctuates.
I really appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance.
Regards,

RE: Need Help-Idle Time Question
it should idle around 1100 or 1200 rpms.. 1500 is a bit high.. If the weather is kinda cold there, that could be the problem.. My bike idles a bit lower when it's belot 40*F. Make sure the choke is disengaging all the way.. If the rpm is surging, usually means the carbs might need synching..
If you rev the engine a bit, and let it fall back to idle, does it hang at 1500, and then after maybe 3 or 5 seconds, drop to 1000??

RE: Need Help-Idle Time Question
Yeah, you are right, when I rev the engine a bit, it stays at 1500, and then after a couple of seconds drops to 1000. What should I do? Do you think I should clean the carb? I just did a full service a couple of months back at an authorized Honda Service station.
Anyways, do let me know what I should do to take care of the RPM fluctating problem?
Appreciate your feedback.

RE: Need Help-Idle Time Question
the carbs need to be synched.. The dealer or any motorcycle shop should be able to handle this for you. It's not really a big big deal, but the tank and airbox do have to be removed, and special gauges hooked up to the bike. It's easy to do once you have the gauges hooked up, as that is the unfun part.
