Hello, i went to check the valves on my bike b.c i have never checked them, my bike has 40K on it and it has been running funny here lately. So anyways what is this timing thing it says "Factory Hon-008" on it, u can advance and retard the timing with a set screw and the T (or "+" im not sure what it is) dosent line up when the IN and EX marks on the cam sprocket are lined up with the case, it looks like it advanced alot... heres some pictures hopefully one of yall can help me out

Your bike has an aftermarket adjustable ignition advancer on it. You can't use the description in the shop manual for where to align ignion pulse generator with the index mark. You'll probably going to need to get the documentation for that from Factory Pro. That's going to tell you how to reference the index mark with the pulse generator disk. Your cam gears appear to be in the right position to begin making your checks. Looking at that design, there isn't any way that the timing could have moved or changed from what it's been at since it wasinstalled that way on the bike. If you're going to check the valve clearances, which is a good idea, just start with the cam gears in the position you've got them in and start checking your clearences. Follow the procedures in the manual for which ones to check first and then how much to turn the crank, and which to check next. You'll essentially turn the crankshaft around 1.5 times over thrugh the checking procedure. If it turns out you have some clearances that are not within spec, make sure you turn the crankshaft back to the starting position before you beging the disassembly and removing the camshafts.
