Is my clutch slipping?
I have a problem in 2nd gear at about 7-8k where it feels almost like its free revving for a second. It only does it under harder throttle and only in 2nd gear. I'm not sure of the mileage on the clutch but it didn't do it when I first bought it last year. I put a couple thousand miles on it before it started. I don't stunt my bike or really beat on it but I just want to be sure I don't have a transmission problem. It shifts smoothly and doesn't pop out of any gears and it doesnt "slip" if I'm part throttle through second. I have tried to get it to slip in 3rd but I can't really tell if it is or not. Just curious if this sounds like a slipping clutch

I noticed on an older bike that I had that the clutch would actually slip and cause the tach to rev up while speed stayed the same. I noticed it in the higher gears and not in the lower ones. Once I swapped out the fried clutch plates for brandy new ones, all was well. It sounds to me like this could be your problem. Just an opinion.

I do have valvoline motorcycle oil for superior wet clutch that is not synthetic. I also think my clutch adjustment is near the end of the line too if i remember correctly i had to adjust it last year. It free revs for a second then catches then will either go like a raped ape or will slip and slam again and then catch. It seems like when im really pushing the bike that it will do it in high rpm in 3rd as well. I think it is a clutch, i'm hoping atleast since i have a oem replacement EBC sitting in my shed..

Clutch is done - replace it before you damage other parts
