Default mirror adjustment????

for some reason i can not get my right side mirror adjusted to where i can see behind me.

i adjusted left one and can see perfect out of it without tilting my head to the left.

i can not say the same about the right.... every time i tilt my head to the right to see behind me, the whole bike tilts to the right and i find myself on the right side of the lane.

is this common or is it just me???

You should be able to adjust the mirrors so you don't even have to tilt your head. If you pull back the rubber boot on the mirror stalk, you will see a Hex (or Allen) key, loosen that off slightly (& re tighten once you get the mirror set) makes it easier to move the mirror forward or back. You can rotate the actual mirror on its axis as well, sometimes with weather & grime it gets hard to move. but it do. Just a matter of experimentation till you get it right.

thank you....

the problem is not that they are hard to move....
i cant find the right spot.... it feels like that mirror is not sticking out far enough.
ill play with it some more today.

Ive noticed the same with mine.

Ive set them up in such a way that when im sat on the bike, usual riding/cruising position, my elbow/are covers half the left mirror giving me a good view of the road behind me.
for the right side its the same but i can see more of whats directly behind me.
For a clearer view i pull my arm/elbow in a bit.

I an im in the uk, so swap the lefts for rights and give it a go.

I've never had a bike where your elbows didn't take up at least part of the view. But you can angle the mirrors in such away that you can minimise their obstruction. I ride on the left side of the road like CaNsA. I use my left mirror adjusted to see if anythings coming up behind me & my right so I can see the passed traffic on the right side of the road & any one coming up past me to overtake. Unless they come up with something like a rear camera or mounting a 3rd mirror somehow, you are never going to see anything directly behind you (unless their a fair distance away). I know I'll probably get a bit of ragging over this, but a habit over 40 years.
I will always have a quick glance behind me if I'm going to overtake (or to confirm if that really is a police car I just caught a glimpse of in the mirrors). Note that this is something I don't do if there a lot of traffic in front of me or getting stuck into the twisties. Its saved my **** on to many occasions to mention.

If you still have probs you could bolt a pillion on and using a half decent intercom all your problems will be solved.
