Fuel reserve switch question!!!!!

Hey, i just got a 95 cbrf3. Can someone explain to me the reserve switch. What position should it be in while riding with a full tank? Up =? Down = ? . When should it ever be turned to off?

up = reserve

parallel with the ground = off

I TRY to turn it to off if I know I won't start it for a day or two. My peacock is kinda leaky so I feel lik its a little easier to start up when I turn it to off.
