Hi folks, first post.....my lads CBR-600F3 1998 ignition barrel has got so badly corroded we can't use the existing key. Locksmith has had a look at it and can't do anything. So I am looking to replace the barrel -(PIC 1 right half shows what I can find on ebay).
I've been able to remove the rear section of the barrel assembly by removing the three secure screws (see left side PIC 1).
What I can't seem to remove is the barrel itself. PIC 2 right side show what appear to be 2 rivets securing the barrel to the handlebar yoke. I think I'm stuffed trying to get the ignition barrel off, unless someone has some genius idea? thanks.
I've seen the ignition held on by allen bolts or torque screws. If you're trashing the ignition barrel anyways, just cut it with a Dremel and remove the bolts with pliers. Been there, done that.
