it has every thing to do with the slack. i think its around 1 inch top to bottom of slack,(yer bike shood have a sticker showing proper slack) adjusting is no big thing, you just have to be sure to keep wheel straight, i usually count wrench turns and match them from one side to the other. Start by loosening yer axle bolt, then loosen the lock nuts on yer adjustment bolts. now i adjust in two turn incriments then match the otherside, checking slack as you go, when you acheive correct slack. check center of axlenut to front swingarm bolt on both sides, you should have the same numbers, if not adjust the appropriate sideto match. WHen all is good , retighten the axlebolt and locking nuts on adjuster and poof, Bobs yer uncle....Test ride and be sure all is good, get chain warm by riding a good 10 min, then lube chain well, clean off excess with rag,WHILE MOTOR IS OFF...and yer good to go...

Same as Bambam, only thing I would add, you have to find the tightest part of the chain 1st. That means rotating the rear wheel till you find the section of chain with the least slack. Also if your not to great with a spanner or socket wrench, its very easy to overtightened/under tightened the axle nut. So if you can get your hands on a torque wrench.

you can get them at lowes, do your job, and return at at the price of 0 bucks. that's what I did, 50 bucks back in my pocket.
you will need a 1 1/16 for the right side nut.
they also sell the toolkits on ebay.
