Default Loose Chain

As you can see im pretty new in here (hence the amount of posts) but i recently purchased a 2001 CBR 600 F4I. After my first longer trip i noticed the chain was significantly looser than when i left home. I loosened the rear tire nut and bolt and adjusted to tighten the chain. After riding for a short period of time its loose again. The bike has 16,000 miles. Could this be a stretched chain and an easy fix with just a new chain?

Thanks in advance

When you tighten your rear axle bolt, make sure you torque it to 69 foot pounds. If you don't you are probably gonna loosen it as you ride. It is possible you might need a new chain, if you get a new chain, be sure to replace your sprockets at the same time. Sprockets and chains wear the same rate. so if you replace one and not the other, you will be replacing them again and again.

If you shop and aren't too picky you can do it for about 150. I just swapped mine and it was 120 for chain, 60 for rear sprocket, and 30 for front sprocket, but i was pretty set on what I was buying.

Make sure you degrease the axle nut & axle bolt threads. It's easy, when you replace it to get grease all over them and it won't lock in (no friction).

Where is the cheapest place to buy a set from? My current chain has a removable link clip on it (plus I am in the red zone with no more bolt threads to extend the chain if I needed too)

EDIT: just checkedmy sprockets and they look great, I dont event think I have the right type of chain on there, its not a endless chain??!?!?!?!?
