Default Hmmm

So i was going to clean my carbs, and while trying to figure out how to get the airbox loose, i stumble upon two blocked off airhoses. They used to be connected to the airbox (see the crappy iphone picture) But for some reason they've been cut off. Anyone know why someone would do this?

airbox is easy to take off. there is about 5 screws that hold the upper lid to the box. take those loose. take your ram air ducts clamps loose. lift the lid off. the hose at the bottom looks waay to small to be a vacuum hose. if you trace it out, where does it lead to? i dont see the other one your 2 arrows side by side are pointing at.

They shouldn't be blocked off... I have them connected differently, but that's only because I have dynojet kit installed... they should not be blocked off, these supply air to the airbox... the triangluar thing stores air in the box so there is always a flow of air even when hitting the throttle.

When i took a closer look at the studs the hoses had prior been connected to, it turned out that they were in fact just that, studs, so the hoses whether attached to the airbox or not, would have been blocked off...

I did get the airbox off, but in the end i chickened out before removing the carbs all together, i have a friend who's a little more technically inclined and I think ill ask him to assist next time i try

removing them is easier than putting them back on imo...just remember how the boots on the engine to carbs are mounted and which direction the screws are pointing... if you do it'll make your life a lot easier.

Those studs were designed to hold vacuum lines from each carb-

Once I fought the lines onto my carbs for syncing I just slid them onto those post to block them off but still leave them easily accessible- This worked until I tried to take them off, then the post all snapped off. ha ha
