Hesitation!!
Checked for continuity between the fuel pump and the fuel cutoff relay. Didn't have any so I cleaned the contacts on both ends of the harness with vinegar and a soft toothbrush. Now when the bike is running, there's a regular pulse from the fuel pump.
My bike is idling pretty rough which is prolly a sign I need to balance the carbs. Just haven't had the will to tear into her again. But I guess I will this weekend. Will update after I balance the carbs.
Oh btw, I have a K&N filter in my bike. But my understanding is that would usually cause the bike to run lean, not rich
OK, I just answered similar post. You guys have the same issues. Well...I also do. Rectifier...hmmm. I doubt it. But its always good to check. F3 rectifier is a piece...of crap. They burn out easily. I changed mine to Suzuki ones - just beautiful.
Now to the fuel pumps. Start with small things first. I ve had this problem for like 2 years. Changed the pump twice, then changed relay, then bypassed relay. Now I am running without the pump at all. So, just by pass the pump for now. If the bike fires up and rides good the pump or relay might be bad. If the bike sounds rough check the fuel filter and gas tank for a vapor lock. Then get a set of new spark plugs. Check the old ones first. If they are wet that means the carbs are flooding. Make sure the carbs are clean and synched. Make sure all the cylinders are working. Just put a hand on each manifold. If some of them are cold you have a misfire.
I am changing float needles on mine before I put fuel pump back. You should do it also and it should fix the issue.
Good luck.
