hard start after riding

Default hard start after riding

so after i ride the bike for a while and its good and warm if i stop to lets say eat real quick and try and restart the bike it takes a little cranking to get it to start again, prolly 5-6 seconds worth of cranking any ideas??

What starting procedure do you use? Will it start better if you use the choke? Anyway a few things can cause that to happen. Plugs, carbies needing a tune, vent hole in fuel cap plugged up (pressure builds up in the tank). If it starts better from cold, then my money is on the carbs.

yeah it fires right up when its cold, its only when i have been riding it for a while and shut it down, does it take alittle bit to get her started.

Next time you're starting warm, do it with the gas cap open.

Aside form that, run some Seafoam through the bike; it could just be a small clog or deposit somewhere like the fuel filter or a carb.

how would i turn it on with the gas cap open??? id need to turn it back off just to shut the cap.

My f3 has two seperate keys. One for the tank and the other for the ignition...is this not a common thing on older bikes??? If not, I guess the previous owner is an idiot.

but um, I'm having a similar issue. It only happens every now and then. I think I might try some seafoam to see if that helps.

in the manual it says to open the throttle a bit when you start if the engine is warmed up. it should fire right away

yeah thats what i have been doing, and it seems to fire right up when i open the throttle a bit.
