after hard riding...
after really pissed off abusive hard riding....my engine seems to stay at a pretty high idle unless I let the clutch out just a little to drag the rpm back down...then its fine...any idea why it does this? idle will stay at like 2k unless I drag the clutch a little and then it drops back down to 1k.
yeah I know...dont ride like that...too late. :P

Prolly your throttle cables could do with some lube ..
When you twist the gas wayyyy around during fits of excitement , they get pulled into areas of the cable that are not used as often, as they are with normal sane riding times ..
The cables should also have a titsYwitsy bit of slack in them ...check yours to make sure they are not too tight ..?
I use a good Teflon based spray lube on mine ...
Just pop the top of the cluster and give them a couple of short squirts with breaks in between to let the stuff soak down.. don't go drowning the inside in one burst , or it just freaking leaks out everywhere ..LOL
Sometimes my grips actually drag on the cluster too ...so a tiny squirt in between the grip and the cluster makes it nice and free too...
other than that ...ride slower !!! LOL ..... not likely hey Swish

High idle
Yup, Steve hit on the first thing I would look at. If that does not work, then it is your carb mixture. If it is too rich, the idle will drop slowly instead of instantly. Had a heck of a problem with that on my KZ1300s in high altitude riding.
Try the "snap test" on you throttle. Should just "snap" right back to the off position. Shut the engine off and give the throttle a few "snaps open and let go" it should snap closed. Since these puppies don't have an accelerator pump, you don't have to worry about flooding the engine (at least my 91 has no accelerator pumps).

So....... Steve reckons a squirt of lube adds lustre to your cluster eh?? Might help in those tight spots I suppose
Nevada , that was my next question mate , will it flood the carbs if you mess with the throttle when she's not running , my throttle works fine but I always think prevention is better than cure.
Red mate you obviously haven't been ridin' her hard enough man! Lube that baby up and go to town

Luster to your cluster
And Red if all that doesn't work, do what Hawk said, "Add that luster to your cluster!" But use some lube on it brother!
It's Saturday, the wife is out, it snowed last night, my dog wants out, the neighbor is yelling at the kids, the horse next door is caught in the fence and they are waiting for the vet to give it a knock out drug, my feet stink and Jesus just cut one heck of a f.ucking fart!
I need a drink!
I think I will start with the dog since she will create more work for me to do on the carpet. "When is the wife coming home to clean that up!" Better get the dog out.
I start a new job soon. I will be managing this place so I might not have much time after this month - Why the f.ck did I want to go back to work?!!! http://www.experiencelegends.com/

Hey Nevada , I'm one step ahead of ya! Sittin in Boston with Jonny Walker and his brothers Black 'n' Red( can ya tell I been drinkin' ossifer) If the dog ***** the smell wears off 'till you hardly notice . Mr Magnum makes some pretty good 0.44 knock-out drops for the horse and I hear they work on kids too Ring the wife before she gets home to tell her the place needs a clean 'cos it stinks and to pick up a take-out 'cos your hungry
Too bad about the work , but it's what we do , otherwise we gotta eat **** , instead of dishin it out
