Gear ratio. -1/+4 question
Ok ive got -1/+2 now on bike. Thinking of going to a 47 tooth rear sprocket. Which would be a +4. Has anyone done this and or is this advisable. Should I expect future problems if I do?
The most important question to ask is why you want the bigger rear sprocket. unless your stunting i see no use for it on a street bike, i have the same -1 +2 and i'll keep it that way. If your trying to get more acceleration i would recommend getting an aftermarket throttle tube / cable.

+1 to Volcom, unless you want a one-trick pony.
Of course, if that's what you're looking for, you'll need to check for clearance issues.
You don't say what bike you're running with, but I'd check for chain rub/clearance.
You'll have added enough to the diameter of the rear sprocket, it's a potential issue.
Other than clearance issues, I can't think of anything, mechanically, that would
interfere with your concept.
Just watch the red-line, other-wise you might get a nasty surprise.

Doesn't take as much effort to open your throttle wide open. You just replace your 1/4 F3 Throttle tube with a 2005 R6 1/5 throttle tube. It has a larger diameter for improved acceleration, feels like a racebike. But no Hp gains, just faster acceleration. Though I have tried to fit a 2007 R6 1/6 throttle tube with not much luck, even adjusted the cables at the carbs. Check out the link below.
