Default fuel issue

So I bypassed my fuel pump (after i did the repair to it) and it fires up. Hook the fuel pump back up and nothing just wants to turn over. So since I fixed the fuel pump already with that 40$ part and how-to on this site, what else in the system could cause a no start? Also still getting smoke out the back but do not see any oil leaking out of the exhaust any more. I added seafoam so hopefully when I get it on the road and run a good tank through it the smoking will go away.

Carbs are clean and there is spark so I know that isnt the issue, it is something with the fuel system

so if you run gravity feed straight to the carbs it will start, but if you run the fuel pump inline between the tank and carbs it will not start?

My pump was dead so I followed the repair tutorial on the site, I doubt it would be reverse since I only unhooked the hose going to the tank, is there a filter that could be clogged in-between them or maybe I just need a new pump all together. I do hear the clicks though when I try to start

Steve, I am over in Highlands Ranch, CO. Nice to see a fellow F3'er around the area.

Make sure your input and output hoses are attached correctly. Hook the pump directly up to a battery. Run the output of the pump into a graduated cylinder.
