Default Fluid leak from shifter rod

Hello,

I ride a F3 and I noticed i was leaking some type of fluid. When i followed the trail back to the fluid it was comming out of where my shifter rod is attached. The fluid only comes out when the bike is running but aftyer the bike is off the fluid stops. My question is why is the fluid leaking and how can i fix it? What fluid is leaking? From my obeservations I think it could be trans fluid and i think a gasket may need to be replaced. Can a loose shifter rod be tightened so that the fluid doesnt leak or are gaskets needed. Could the problem be far worse?

Thanx

im sure there is some sort of seal there not a typical gasket. Mine is leaking a little as well but it sounds like yours is a little worse. Only thing it could be is oil since the motor oil is the transmission fluid as well.

Thanx for the reply, but do you know any websites where i can get the seals or a hardware? What do i have to do to repair the seal or set it back in place? Do I have to take anything or a simply an alignment of the seal would work?

yea just goto the dealership and buy a new seal. i think they are cheap like 2-3 $ and just make sure when you seat the new one in it lines up straight and doesnt "/" or "\" you need it "I" (hope that makes sense)

Thanx again. Iwas woundering can my engine sieze up from the leaking oil. Can my engine seize up from lack of oil? My oil is leaking at an alarming rate, should i recycle the oil into the engine to prevent it from seizing up or will it be fine? what would be my best bet at this poitn while im waiting on the seal to be shipped?

honestly my brother rode his bike around for a few weeks with this probelm , just had to keep adding oil lol ... but you really shouldnt ride if you can avoid it. that il leaks out and gets on your tires and you can go down really easy. does your dealership not have one in stock ? and no your engine will not seize up from this problem (right now) but if you run it with little to no oil in it will start to damage internals and it wont be very good . just keep adding oil to get you by and keep checking the level to make sure you have enough in.
