Unhappy Faulty Ignition Switch?

Hey,

i got the problem on my cbr600f3 that my radiator fan isnt running. To be precise = I checked electrical connection between the igniton switch (black yellow output) and the fuse connection for the fan. also for the fan connector and the fuse connection to the fan. everythings okay but i have no voltage on that line. even if i check directly at the back of the igntion switch (ignition turned on)i have 12,5V battery voltage at some ports but not at the fan port. So does this mean my igntion switch is faulty inside? Is this reperable or do i need to get a new (used) one?

thank you very much
greetings from germany

I'm not seeing the Black/Yellow output you see. Is your wiring diagram in Germany different than the US? The output of the Ignition Switch in the US is the Blue/Orange wire, which feeds the Fuse Block for Fuse #4. The output of Fuse #4 is the Black/Blue wire which goes to the Cooling Fan.

my fault - you're right. it was dark outside and it was a challenge itself to get behind the ignition switch with the multimeter. first i checked connectivity and then the voltage. sure it was blue/orange. so colleagues in the german cbr board suggested following solution.
i should get myself a relay and connect it like that. nevermind the blue/orange is blue in this wiring diagramm... well the colours are not very important - lets ignore them

greetings to beautiful florida - been there twice and would love to ride my cbr along the keys instead of rainy cold germany

Personally this looks like an easy thing to fix without having to wire up some kind of external relay. So are you going to just cut through the factory wiring harness?

Yeah probably you're right. I just ordered a complete used set of keys and locks. ignition, fuel tank and helmet lock.

probably somebody just the wrong spare part. my igntion key electronics ist 6 wires with 2 x 3 plug connectors. one of them is not connected hanging behind the instrument cluster. probably thats the reason why i got 2 sets of keys for the bike. the ignition has different ones than the fuel tank / helmet lock...

I personally think you made a great decision. Fixing it the right way is going to make you happier in the long run. Let us know how you get on with it.

Today i replaced the ignition switch with a used Part. Very Strange, the old one had 6 cable (3 Wires per Plug, 2 Plugs in total). One Plug was danglin around without being connceted. Seems like a wrong spare part from another modell.

Anyway - now it all works like it should be out of factory.

Thank you @ IDoDirt. I rella appreciate your will to help people from all over the world
