Default F3 problem

I just recently got a 1998 CBR 600 and once i hit about 5500 RPM the engine doesn't want to stay at a constant, it frequently cuts out and has a difficult time accelerating (anything below the 5500 and it's fine)

any help would be greatly appreciated

thank you!
Sam

(oh and things i have done in the past 2 days: New plugs, oil change, cleaned the air filter, seafomed the carbs, and timing)

As I usually say when somebody buys a new bike just do complete check up. Especially if a bike wasnt running for while. The carbs should be thoroughly checked and cleaned, not just sea foamed. Check for any vapor locks. Check fuel/air lines. Make sure there is no gas/water in it. One of the issues might be that the bike isn't getting enough fuel (air). Check (replace) fuel filter. Check if fuel pump provides enough fuel (you can bypass fuel relay or pump). Its a very wide question so do that maintenance. Good luck.

In the same boat currently. Gonna try rejetting the bike here shortly. If I fix her, I'll let you know where to look.

However I have a clue: my bike is running rich so it may be air related. I had a clogged fuel filter so now she's running really rich (won't start with choke if its even mildly warm)
