Default F3 Fuel Pump over heating solved

Like many I have had continual issues with the fuel pump failing or over heating. I have replaced everything with the fuel system and still the pump failed…then it dawned on me. It was pumping trying to supply a fuel rate it could not keep up with, only thing that could be is excessive fuel burn…like it had the choke on. The choke was off, so it had to be coming from something else, what causes an artificial choke/enrichening? The air filter, I checked it, it looked clean, however, it was very oily, and wet looking (this is the OEM filter). Over time the paper filter becomes contaminated with oil and fuel to the point it creates an artificial choking condition..even though it was clean. I tested this by using a shop vac and trying to suck through it, and sure as **** the vac showed it was restricted. I replaced it with a K&N and no more issues at all. This, I think, is the on again, off again, fuel pump issue.

My Smokin'Joe kept hitting what I thought was vapor lock. Come to find out there is no such thing with a fuel pump, it was the fuel pump. Replaced OEM fuel pump with a cheap 50 dollar Chinese knock-off.... Ah No! Almost blew up and burned up my bike and burned down my father's garage. Chinese "bench tested" fuel pump 50$s and Honda OEM fuel pump 270.... So, long story short tank God my girl was saved but that 270 dollar fuel pump that I didn't want to pay actually end up costing me 320 dollars🤣
