F3 to F4i Gauge Swap
Per a suggestion by Scrufdog, I downloaded a free software frequency generator (NCH Tone/Waveform Generator). If you set the tone generator to output a 3100Hz (really anything from 3K-4K) sqaure wave, it will simulate 180mph on your speed sensor pickup. I cut up a spare headphone-jack plug and connected the white wire (the left channel) to the speed sensor input of the guages and then grounded the red wire (right channel) directly to the bike frame. It took a long time for the bike to "travel" ~2,000 miles to bring mileage on the new gauges up to match the old ones, but it is cheaper and quicker than sending the guages out to someone else. -- Thanks Scrufdog!!

Guys, just to reconfirm, the F3 gauges have 2 connectors for 2 sets of wire groups (14 wires in all?) coming off it, that get bundled up into the one mix and match group that goes into the F4i cluster, yes?
hi just asking some thing
I need to get my miles up on f4i gauges have done it with the lap top and wire but the clocks are on bike and i have to sit out side as the keys are in bike
i can power the clocks up off the bike
So if i can put power to the speedo sensor will that work if i can then i can just leave the clock in house when i go to work

Will this work with an f4 and are all the wires the same? I have read all 19 pages here and all the threads in the f4 forum first. Any advice on putting this in a f4 would be awesome. I just bought my 2000 f4 a week ago and plan on doing this right away!
Thanks Alec.
Thanks Alec.
Dude Im sure it will work.
Evening Guys, i have done the conversion but i have one thing that is not working correctly, my bike is still on the bench with the engine ticking over and the MPH is counting up, only between 7 and 10 mph, the bike is standing still, any suggestion to why this maybe?
cheers Paul
