This is my first post, I’ll start by saying a big hello to everybody on the forum ! My names tony and I need abit of help, I’ve just got hold of a f3. 600. 1995. The bike has 26000 miles and full service history, and is very clean. I’ve owned it about 3 months and done about 1000 miles everything good bikes been running brilliantly but I have noticed a very very small amount of smoke form the right inspection slot of bike witch I thought might be cleaning fluids or something on headers! But went for a ride today, and after thrashing the bike for about an hour I was pulling up at the back of my garage and the bike just died, I noticed a little bit more smoke on the right inspection slot of the bike. But could not determine where the small amount of smoke was coming from. Bike started up fine straight away, battery is all good fully charged, bike runs perfectly so I checked all fluids, fan cuts on when hot and calls down the engine and cuts off, so I left the bike for an hour to call down completely and went for another ride. After about half hour the bike died again and started up perfectly again. Took off lower right faring and visually looked at all wiring and could not find anything. Any help much appreciated. Sorry for a long thread.
Welcome. That's a nice looking bike you have there. The next time the bike does this open the fuel cap. If you hear a whooshing or sucking sound and if your bike starts up again after opening the cap it means you have a blocked breather tube line. Hopefully that is it as it is an easy fix.
Thanks for your reply, I don’t think it’s the petrol cap, I’ve had that before on my motocross bike, but good shout! It’s definitely electric problem it’s when it get really hot fan cuts on then cools the bike down then I’ve noticed a small amount of smoke coming from somewhere, the right inspection slot, then bike dies but starts straight back up fine no more smoke , battery seems to be good 12; 4 volts running’s 13;5 volts so I don’t think it’s the. RR. Or bike wouldn’t charge would it? Tried looking at all wires and plugs but haven’t seen anything, I’ve got to find out where this smokes coming from and hopefully not brake down somewhere,
Does anyone think it might be a bad stator? Only seems to happen when I hammer the bike for about an hour , maybe it’s Honda gods telling me that bike near 30 years old and never been ridden like that! Very weird!
