Default Intermittent Engine Bog

Hey guys, hoping somebody could help diagnose this problem I’ve been having. I got my F2 6 weeks ago with about 23k miles on it and I’m approaching 26k. In that time she has run perfectly up until this past weekend. About 60 miles in to my 100 mile ride the other day, I started losing power in 4th gear at 6k RPMs. The throttle was very sluggish and just didn’t feel as snappy as it normally does. The problem worsened until the bike just shut down as I was riding it. After a couple minutes on the side of the road she started up like before, had a couple more bogging issues at the next few intersections, then ran perfect for the last 30 minutes of the ride. I replaced the spark plugs that afternoon then went out again, where the bogging started 20 minutes in. It got so bad this time however that I couldn’t even bring it home. Even after sitting for an hour it would only run on full choke and sounded/felt like it was only on 2 cylinders. Fast forward to a night later I started it up and the motor is back to purring like it normally does. Has anybody experienced this before, or has any idea why the engine randomly starts bogging down and running like crap?

I’ve had a similar problem, found out that it was the rear brake sticking after about 1 hour bike would just bog right down then just would not pull ! I would pull over and by the time I got my helmet off, it would cool abit and release, Took me ages to figure out, just a thought! That or ht leads brakeing down !

Next time it happens, try opening the gas cap. It might be creating a vaccum, and starving the bike of fuel.
If opening the gas cap fixes it, then check the tank vent on the under side of the tank.
Make sure it's not plugged. I've also seen people cap this off before.

Also make sure the vaccum hose from cyl #1 to the petcock is in good shape.
A leak there can cause the petcock not to fully open.

Hi all. This issue travels every which way. The vehicle will run like a seasoned professional for some time, long stretches of time at an at once in a blue moon, it stalls and needs power. The more gas you give it, the more it stalls. I needed to limp it home last evening after it kicked the bucket on me multiple times. I drove it tonight and the issue is non existent. The vehicle runs like monster for the present. Where would it be advisable for me to begin looking? I was thinking fuel siphon first. Gratitude for any reaction. Its extremely valuable.

Defo sounds like fuel starvation, as Phil said test the tank vent first, then fuel filters then unfortunately carbs next.

Measure flow-rate from petcock. Does it have vacuum activation line?

Try some PEA-based fuel-system cleaner. Hopefully if it's just minor clogs in fuel-system, this will clear them up.

- Red Line SI-1
- Techron Concentrate Plus
- 3M Max Strength Fuel System Cleaner #08814
- Royal Purple Max Atomizer 18000
- Gumout All-in-One (may be off list soon due to lowering amounts of PEA)

NO SEAFOAM EVER! It's got ethanol, which is last stuff you ever want to put into your tank!

Zombie post coming back from the dead.

But It's so slow around here, so why don't we all find really old posts, add a random reply and watch the fun begin.
