Default hour long trip, one small problem

after about 45 min of riding my engine seemed to loose power, not die. just get weak. throttle response was weak, and the sound was weak also.

i was going to pull off the road to see what the problem was and as i was down shifting the engine cut out on me in third gear, so i threw her in neutral and coasted to the side of the road. it didnt want to start back up at first, so i let her cool off a bit even though the thermo was a little bit below middle. tried to start it again and she came on like a champ. worked fine for the rest of the ride.

on the way back home same thing happend again. i did what i did the first time and it worked, drove her home without anymore problems.

anyone know what this could be? it seems like somethings about to go out on me and i want to catch it before it does

Did you check the thing that Dj_Squatch suggested in response to my engine dying on me? https://cbrforum.com/m_478587/tm.htm Before I realized what it was, I was already starting to thinkit might besomething electrical. Your description sounds like the feel ofmy bike dyingtoday - losing power, hesitation, though mine ultimately stopped.

and thanks for the tank-mileage tip.

Any ideahow much this tank holds?

yeah i read it, my bike started up fine though afterward, the electrics are fine im 95% sure

the reason your bike felt like that is because it wasnt getting gas, so i think i might have the same thing, possibly a fouled sparkplug? i notice that it misfires when she idles, nothing HUGE just something i can make better. any of you guys think it might be my plugs?

oh btw rey the tank holds 4.23 capacity and 0.8 in reserve ^_^

Not a bad idea to pull them and see how they are, while you're at it check that the plug wires are making a good connection. Though,if it feels like the what it's like to run out of gas, maybe the carbs.

5 gallon capacity and130mi or soto drain the tank - wow, around26 mpg? I kinda thought these little 600's would be in the high 30's or better.

I have had a similar issue last summer. I was not running that good on full tank.As the fuel was used it ran better and better.
One day it was loosing power. It started up by died. Opened the tank and re-started. Ran fine for 2 minuttes, and died. When I finally got home I checkedtankoverfill tube etc. so the tank could breate but the tube was OK. The engine can only suck gas if air is able to come into the tank.
Found out that in the tank lid contain a rubber vent? or somethink like that.
It was old hard and dry. I have removed this, and not there is not problem. It runs fine on full and low tank.

the tank is 4.23 including the reserve i believe, not 100% sure tough. so take out the reserve and you have 3.6 gallons with a full tank on the on posistion

that right there pumps it up to 36 miles a gallon. and its low around 130, not including reserve. becasue lets face it, who wants to risk running on reserve for a lengthy period of time?

so im guessing maybe 40mpg?

and thanks for the input trebbienill check my gas tank out real good and look for any damgaed seals or tubes
