You will need a multi- meter (volt meter). Do a search on this site, as it's really an on going issue.
With my bike, I started it up fine, rolled out of garage, warmed er up. Turned it off to go inside for something, tried to start again, dead as the preverbial. charged up battery, ran fine, did a 10 mile run, parked. Went start it again about 30 minutes later, dead. Clutched ok, but ran very rough.
Their tricky, not always the same things happen, different symptoms, same result. All I can suggest, if it does turn out to be the reg. get a heavy duty one. so I won't happen again
