Or will they crack or come apart? Will a can of short strand fiberglass fill cracks and rash well?

If they aren't too broken, you can use bondo on the back
and the outer side too.
I used it on inside of upper cowl to hold it together, then put
it on outside and finished it just like you do on a fender.
Results are that the bike looks like new again.

 

bondo is for finishing not structure. Expoxy works good as well as the newer plastic weld thats out now.

Oldest trick in the book baking soda and zap a gap. Careful as it gets really hot and cures in seconds!

 

ive used fiberglass no problems. friend just pieced his rear tail on his zx10 into about 30 pieces. i glassed them all backtogether. we've been seeing if they will ever crack. hes on about 6000+ miles now.

i also fiberglassed his fairings too. he actually left the bottom fairing off. the wind actually shook the fairing and it cracked. but it didnt break on the fiberglass parts i did. the oem plastic broke first.

 

fiberglass on the back of thefairig works prettywellbut youllneed something to fill the crack. bondo just cracked after a few runs.

 

Two of my tabs on my side seat cowl broke off will this work to stick them back on ? and where do you order it ?

 

I'ma plastics engineer, so I can say with confidence that an epoxy would be the best way to go due to it's exceptionally good mechanical properties and excellent ability to adhere to a variety of substrates.It's what's universally used in making (cost no object) carbon fiber parts. Even when laid up with regular fiberglass it will offer a fix that will be significantly stronger than the original part. If just aesthetics are your concern, go for the acrylic (Maxim) or polyester (Bondo) fillers. I've not used Maxim, but I've had some success with some light Bondo work on ABS parts. Remember that surface prep is everything. Make sure you thoroughly abrade and then clean (several times) all the surfaces to be bonded.
