Clutch Slipping from 8-10k
I just bought the bike and the clutch was slipping when I accelrated hard. I ended up getting a kevlar street racer clutch with just the fiber plates and springs. (reused OG steels). It seemed fine for the last week or so, then when riding on the interstate the other day it was slipping between 8000-10000 rpms like clockwork. I could go in any gear and it did it when I nailed it from 6k or so. Before and after 8-10k everything is fine and it pulls hard. What's up with this? Does it have anything to do with the steels I reused? They were well within spec. Where I bought the bike they said not to use synthetic oil or it could make the clutch slip. This true? I just got mid grade mobil in it. Should I try the Honda oil? Any input in greatly appreciated.

Chances are your clutch isn't beded in and the wear marks on the steel plates need run into the clutch plates as you bought kevlar it's harder than the cork fiber, so it'll take longer to bed in, a bit like your disc brakes all the groves you see on the rotors have to bed in to the pad, so your not getting full contact between the plates .... personally I would have replaced the springs and plates, you sould have no probs' with synthetic oil as long as the clutch is adusted correctly

Why take it apart more times than you have to? I would replace everything at the same time on my bike. It does sound like maybe it just hasn't broken in quite yet. Put another 300 miles on it gently and then rip on it again. Hopefully that will fix it. Ripping on it to much before its broken in however could have destroyed your new kevlar plates though.
