Default Clutch problem!!! Please help!!!

Hi i just replaced my old clutch with a DP clutch. I followed all the steps of installation and torque specs correctly from the haynes manual 2070. So I started the bike and dropped it into first gear and nothing it just dies. Another problem i noticed was that when i started the bike in first gear with the clutch lever squeezed in the bike would go forward without letting go of the clutch lever. I have adjusted the clutch cable many times. Seems like the clutch wont engage or disengage? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank You!!!

Can you feel a biting point on your clutch lever at all?

Is it possible you left item #15 out from this page ? F3 Clutch. Are you able to move item #7 here with just your hand ? Right Crankcase Cover. Does your clutch lever feel real soft and easy to pull ?

Yes the clutch lever bites and has tension. The clutch lifter is also installed correctly. No I cant move the clutch lever by hand on the crankcase cover, but I did get a screwdriver and wedged it so i could move it.

It sounds like you did everything right, but I would say that you should be able to move the lever by hand a little bit, depending on your strength.

My expertise in non-existent here, so I'm going to butt out but I think the only real answer I could give would be that it sounds like you have gotten something wrong during installation, and you are going to have to undo and re-do most of your work.

If you tightened down the clutch plates too far on the springs, that would be trouble.
If you used the correct torque settings, then you have attached something else incorrectly.

Good luck and I hope you fix it!

how about a pic of the clutch cable adjustment, so we can see how you have it set. If you did the clutch plates and all correctly from the book, then its got to be the adjustment of your cable. You might have to run back over your work and recheck everything. did the clutch lever grab the push rod? this can be a common issue with redoing a clutch.
