Default Carb Sync Derp?

Finally got my manometer, ready to sync my carbs. I checked the service manual, and they basically say:
1. Remove gas tank
2. Attach Manometer
3. Replace gas tank
4. Adjust the screws

And here's where I'm confused. Nowhere in there does it say "Take off everything airbox related." But how the hell am I to reach in between the carbs to get to those adjustment screws without removing the airbox? Is the syncing supposed to be done without all of that stuff on?

you can sync the carbs with the air box off. prop up the front of the tank with a block of wood so that you can easily adjust the vacuum the carbs are pulling

Airbox shouldn't be in the way, tank is though. Get a long hose so you can sit it on
the seat or elevated beside the bike. Airbox, all hoses, etc, should be attached as you
want to adjust while the bike is in a final operating state. It just takes a really long
screwdriver to get to the screws.

x2 on what the mad hatter said, you can adjust the carbs with the air box off because the amount of vacuum they are pulling should remain about the same once the air box is back on. BUT adjusting the bike in its operating state is the absolute best way to do it
