Bleeding those brake lines!
BALLER!!! I like it meowmix.
didnt feel worthy of a new thread

this is what happens when you think you have 10yr old brake fluid, and 6 month old pads... also had fun stuff floating in the reservoir. looked a lot darker and inconsistent in real life.
so get a plastic bottle, 8mm wrench, 3ft of 3/16 vynal hose, and dot4 brake fluid and bleed those brakes people.
fyi i this is an f2

Hi Guys, I've been going over my F3 doing some bits n bobs for the upcoming summer and I’m struggling with my front brakes. I have replaced the front/rear pads and the fluid might as well have been pudding! (similar to yours Tucsondude)
I drained the fluid out of the left (as you sit on it) nipple and then filled up the reservoir with fresh DOT4. The trouble is I can't get a firm feel on the brake lever. It pulls back all the way to the throttle.
I bled the left calliper so there were no bubbles and then the right, still spongy though. So I went back to the left one and very little fluid came out at all at first and took several attempts at bleeding to get anything through.
So as it stands, the reservoir is topped up and full, bubble-less fluid comes out of each calliper but still quite spongy. (this is so frikin annoying considering I’ve stripped/cleaned the carbs only to be stumped by this...pfft!
)
Any advice is much appreciated

I bleed left then right. If you don't have a vac, heres a quick rundown of the way I do it:
Pump lever 3 times pausing a moment at each out stroke of the lever pull & hold tight the lever. Crack bleeder nipple valve just enough to get a good flow (spurt) of fluid but don't let the lever bottom out for more than a millisecond. DO NOT RELEASE THE LEVER until the bleeder nipple is fully closed. Ideally you will close the nipple just as the lever reaches bottom. Releasing the lever sucks air back in the system.
Tap the lines. Small bubbles aren't visible but will affect the stiffness. I have also held the brake lever pulled down snug with a bungee overnight to get bubbles out of the system (after repeated bleedings didn't get me a good hard lever).
