Default Bent rim - how bad is too bad?

Hey guys, last year right before I put the bike away for the season I smashed a pothole and put a ding in the lip of my front rim.

It's really not that bad, it didn't even break the bead seal and it doesn't affect how the bike rides at all. It's been sitting in the garage all winter and the tire is still holding air.

Several people have told me to just ride it, because it's not that bad. I don't like the fact that it's bent period, and wanted to get it fixed but most places won't touch it. The ones that do would probably be expensive and/or require shipping which is also expensive. I also looked into getting a new wheel but a new one (for some reason) costs about $800, and I bought the bike for $2,500 so it's not worth it. I tried checking eBay a few times but can't find anything that isn't already bent.

Since I'm pretty hard up for cash right now, I'm considering just letting it ride, but I'm not sure that's a good idea. What would you guys do?

If you don't want to spend the cash to fix it or replace it, then the only option is to leave it.

There may be a local place that can fix it without shipping. Ask some auto repair or body shops to see who they use. There are many according to Google.

Already tried that. Most shops won't touch motorcycle wheels. My buddy who works in a shop recommended me their guy, but that shop has some really bad reviews online.

I don't mind leaving it alone, I'm just wondering how bad an idea it is to ride it with a slightly bent wheel lip.

As long as the seat for the bead is good and its not out of balance, there is no problem at all.

Alright man, thanks. That takes care of that question.

If it gets worse I'll send it in to get fixed, but for now I'm just gonna run it.
