I have this intermittant knocking, actually more of a slapping noise, coming from the lower left side of my engine.

As far as I can tell it goes away or becomes much quieter under load.

Any suggestions?

 

cam chain? tensioner loose or not working?

 

I have a chain tensioner. Checked it last night and it seems okay.

 

mine makes a similar noise from the same location when first starting the bike .. its the cam tensioner it goes away after the bike is warmed up for about 5 mins ... if you checked the cam tensioner you would have to replace the seals or it will leak and cause other problems.. how many miles does your bike have on it ?

i think 16,000 miles is around where you need to replace the cam tensioner.. i believe there is a thread on this already

 

No, the cam chain tensioner is fine. I have a manual one.

Used a stethoscope and found out that in the transmission.

 

the cct is on the right......he said left....look at the crank bearing endplay.......
