Engine noise?

Engine noise?
Right..... I bought myself a 1995 600f about a month ago. It's my first sports bike and I spent the first couple of weeks smiling ear to ear at the sound of the thing! it's pretty much as standard except an after market carbon can, and mini indicators! to the point...... once the initial novelty wore off, I started to get used to the massive noise the can produces and started to notice a strange whirring noise from down below. Its hard to make a noise in a forum but it sounds sort of like soft metal-metal abrasion kind of noise!? However, this is only present when i roll on the throttle and not when moving off throttle.
I am concerned that it could be some sort of engine wear? or could it just be the chain needs to be a bit tighter and is sounding it's protest!?! The oil levels are good, the chain is well lubed and the bike has only done 18,000 miles and is very clean.
Has anyone got any experience with such a noise, or is it just the noise a cbr makes (I have not ridden another to check)
Pardon my naiveity
Cherrs guys

RE: Engine noise?
Is the metal to metal noise the same wheter you are reving in neutral and whendriving the bike? It soundsas you shouldlet a person with some experience listen to the biketo diagnose if the sound is normal or not. Metal sound under load can be a bad sign, but all bikes makes a lot of noise so it is hard to tell just by a somewhat vage andwritten description.
The chain will not cause that type of sympthom if it is juston the lose side. A very worn front sprocket can though.

RE: Engine noise?
I agree with R1000. Get some help. Is the sound like an old bus setting off, coming from low down and between your legs? The only time I have ever come across a noise like what you are possiblydiscribing is when the main bearing went on the mainshaft in the gearbox. This means engine has to come out and the crank cases pulled apart and both bearing have to be replaced as a matter of coarse.
