bad ignition switch?
Hey guys,
I bought a 97 F3 a couple months ago and it ran great since I bought it. However yesterday I went to turn it on and nothing happened when I turned the key switch. The display didn't light up (it has had the F3 to F4 swap done.) I check all of the wires going to the display and redid any connections that were easily pulled apart. I then checked the fuses and found they all had .5 volts. The battery is at 12.8volts and has a good chassis ground. I next took the key switch off and used a couple of pins to probe the wires to the switch, the red wire has 12v when the key switch is off and blue has 0v. When I turn the key switch on the red and blue both drop to less than a volt. I also tried to bypass the switch with a wire, but nothing happened. I feel like the key switch is bad, but I don't understand why I wouldn't be able to jump it.
Any ideas would be helpful I'm trying to go on a charity ride Saturday!!
Thanks.
