Default ignition switch

So my ignition switch is busted and need a new one, the guy at the shop told me that an after market switch wouldnt work because cbrs have a anti theft thing on them that wouldnt let the switch work, so i have to get a more expensive one through honda. Is this true, or are they just jerking my chain for more money?

newer ones probably, but F2 & F3 just have normal switches. My racebikes always had toggle switches.

That dude lied to you. If you have an F2, check the ignition switch wiring harness. If it has 3 wires, which is stock, your bike doesn't have any extra bells and whistles for security. You have 1 12V, 1 wire for headlights and accessories, and 1 wire for the ignition. Touch all three together and you should be in business. I used a simple 20A 12V toggle switch for the bike I'm building for the track.

Use a sealed one from say a marine store if your bike will see any rain.
I figured this one out the hard way.
