Backseat storage?
Just bought a 98 CBR f3. Was wondering if there is a place on the bike to store my registration. I know most bike seats lift up, but I could not find a release for it. Thanks for the help.

Nope, no trunk on the F3's. There is a kit out there though: http://www.flashalert.com/trunk.html or http://1tail.com/sa/p/TARGA_TRUNK_KI...00F3_97-98.htm
There isn't a trunk per se.....but there is some space under the seat that you can store small items like your paperwork. It is a pain to get to though. You'd have to remove the left side rear fairing then remove the little cover that seals that "trunk" area off.
this has to be a Honda joke. They put the bike toolit under the seat, but you need a spanner to get the nuts off to remove the seat to get to it. Oh how i laughed the first time i needed the tools. Mine now sits in the garage, next to my real tools!
I bought my 96' F3 used and for me to get the seat off I just have to, with a little muscle, pull it off - no removing fairings or anything. Not sure if the dude before me did some sort of mod but I just assumed this was how it was suppose to be. Maybe not.
In any case, not sure if you want to store your registration or any paper documents in there. I stored a zip lock bag of tools in the little trunk area. However, the last time I went to use them, I noticed that the plastic bag was scorched and a hole had burned through the plastic - meaning it must get hot as hell under there (or maybe it was the bowl of beans I ate for lunch [:@]). Maybe I just needed to use a different material bag, but at the same time, if it gets that hot under there, the heat may effect paper documents regardless of what type of material they are stored in.
