Its a little wider than the stock one. It wont hang on the tabs, but it does fit between them snugly. I did manage to get the old rubber on the new pump, should help with vibration. I still havent mounted it to the bike. Rode it about 60 miles yesterday, had a blast...Dreading another winter in New England.....

I also got mine installed last night. I have no doubt that this is a great fix!

Reddog953 mentioned the rubber hanger. I didn't have much luck getting the hanger to fit on mine. I basically cut it into half and used zipties to hold it parallel on the pump. Mounted to the OEM tabs just fine. Hangs there and doesn't rattle or vibrate. This pump is literally 2X the size of the OEM but it DOES FIT!.

Couple of notes:

Wiring: Black w/Blue Stripe -> Black w/ Yellow Stripe
Green --------------> Black
(If not have a 10 amp Fuse Handy. Don't ask how I know that.... )

The TICK: Mine is much more audible than the old pump. While its idling it emits a high pitched "tick". about every 5 seconds. I couldn't hear it while riding obviously. Idling in the garage was pretty apparent. I'd love to know if anyone else's hears it too?

Mounting Position: Because of the funky mounting bracket thats made onto it is awkward at first to fit inside the hanger brackets. If your ****-retentive like I am, you trying to plumb your fuel lines and filter in OEM routing. I originally wanted to place the bracket facing the rear shock. That puts the Fuel Inlet Barb on the bottom not the top like the old pump. Placing the fuel barb on top rotates the funky bracket facing outward. This isn't a problem really, but it will conflict with the Idle Adjuster when you put the rear fairing back on. I bent and poked around and got mine to stick out enough to be useful. Just be aware your gonna have to get creative. My gut feeling is to just cut it off but not sure how that would effect the warranty. I may still work on that some more today. I was just too excited to take it for a spin last night!

Speaking of...

WOW! She runs like a dream! This fuel pump issue has obviously been a problem for some time now. The bike doesn't hesitate on inclines at all like it used to. There are lots of little throttle input things I noticed but over all I'm VERY happy with it. I hope you will be too. Its not a perfect fit, but its close. With a little creativity, you should have a long time reliable part on your hands.

Enjoy,

John

The way I mounted mine is the ONLY reason you'll have idle adjuster problems. If it sits down inbetween the bracket like Reddog952 described its no issue. You just have to make sure its pushed all the way down.

Performance wise, we've put probably 110 miles on it since Friday. Its just too cold to ride if your aren't geared for it. I rode to work yesterday which was nippy but enjoyable. So far so good!

Well Airtex the manufacturer. I wanted to know about the design of the pump. It is the same type as what comes on the F3, a solenoid/plunger type as opposed to a electric motor style. Given that it's 2 times the size it may well last longer than the EOM one. I'd be interested in what's under that black cap on the end. Gotta figure it has contacts just like OEM.

I looked at mine before I installed it. It looks exactly the same as the f3 pump. The contact unit it slightly larger and is either coated or made in copper. The contact nibs are almost chrome looking. Other than that I couldn't see a difference.

Well over 500 Miles on the pump since replacing. Sold the bike a few days ago and it was running great then for the new owner. Good luck to F3 owners in the future. Was a great bike to own.

Guy and gals!! I just bought the same fuel pump for my 94 CBR track bike from O'rielly auto parts that reddog did. It has an index-able pump end that came in handy! The downside is that it is about a 1/2" larger in diameter. I had to fab up a bracket for mine since the stock hanger was removed to make way for an aftermarket race shock.

As reddog said the inlet and outlet are smaller. Not an issue at all!!

Best 53.00 I spent!!
