Aftermarket fuel pump
#21
i only know of 1 other person that did this. I dont remember who it was, not sure it was the same fuel pump either. But he said no probs so far. My theory was the cbr fuel pump is obviously a poor part that cost $200 brand new. this costs $50. so i coulod go through 4 of them for tthat cost. It comes with 1 year warranty too. As long as its puttin out same psi. a fuel pump is a fuel pump is a fuel pump.

I have not done this, but I think this is what you're looking for.
It's made by Airtex.
Here is their site. (there is an "S" on the end, not a number five)

Well done! I hate when Autozone and Oreilly's sell parts with only the very basic of specs. They didn't even have the brand name.

My F3 is currently down for the same reason (faulty contacts). Found your how-to Idodirt. That was an excellent job! I called Cyclegear today & he won't know if he can still get those contacts till 11/11. Considering the generic pump..Anyone else thats used one please add to this thread. I am going to wait till the 11th to make a decision. Riding here in VT is pretty much done now......

The more I think about it, I'm about ready to say to hell with this pump anyways. I checked out the pump mentioned in this thread and its a cheap solution to an ongoing problem. Brilliant really. I wanted to find something with OEM style, parallel fuel barbs. So I started looking around and found this...

Airtex Master/Fuel Pump
Part# E8316
$52.99
Special Order
3.5 PSI OUT
Food for thought if nothing else. The external mounting plate looks like it simply unbolts. Maybe some minor modification to get the rubber hanger to work. As far as the specs, the flow rate seems right on. I'm going to pick one up tommorow from the local NAPA Distribution warehouse and try it out. I'll follow up as soon as I get it up and running again.

I bought & installed the Airtex #E8316 fuel pump that VCM1613 was looking at. It works my bike runs just fine. However the pump is larger than the original. The inlet & outlet are also a different size. I bought 4 hose clamps, a inline fuel filter and a couple 1 foot lengths of hose . I made it work, rode the bike about 10 miles. Still dont have the pump mounted. But it aint going anywhere. Havent ridden my F3 in about a month. I bought a 900RR a month ago. After the ride I just took I will miss my F3, dont care what anyone says, the F3 flat out rips!
