Default Aftermarket fuel pump

My fuel pump went out and left me stranded on the side of the road twice now!! I bought the contact kit, and the pump still failed after about 30 miles of riding. I was wondering if anyone has ever used a generic pump? Ive got one laying around that only puts out like 4-5lb of pressure, I can cut the pigtail off my old pump and butt connect it to the new one. Just wondering if any one has done such a thing?

Did it on a different bike and it is working better than before. If mine dumped on my F3 I'd use an aftermarket one and do some testing to see how it performed.

Yep, I went and researched some pumps, found one that only put out like 4.5 pounds of pressure, and ive been riding with it ever since, like 50 miles or so and no problems. I think it was like 30bux from napa, ill get the details and maybee do a small how to on installing it (extremely easy)

yes the filter isnt a big deal, i picked up a "generic fits all" filter and its clear so i can see gas in it, and it was like 5 bucks.

Hey just to let you know i did the same thing. I went to auto zone and bought theiir generic pump that comes with a metal filter that threads onto the pump. If you ask the giy at the desk he should be able to help you. it puts out 2.5-4.5 psi. ill get you the info once i get to my moms house where the receipt is/

This is currently the way the bike is running is with no pump. Just a metal line that connects the 2 hoses. But now the bike gets too much fuel and doesnt run to its full potential. And on top of it all i went from getting 179 miles to a tank to 80-90 miles... maybe 100 if i baby the crap out of it the whole time.
