I Just joined, hoping to get some help from the pro's..
I bought a set of F3 forks to do an internals swap as an upgrade to my Triumph. The set has pretty buggered up preload adjustment screws and its going to look like crap if I don't fix this! I'm not seeing any used stock parts on Ebay, not sure if i'm off on the search terminology or what. I did find some listings for aftermarket china parts. One set that i like is listed for F2 generation and listing states they are "tri" adjustable so i'm wondering if they will work

Here's what mine look like. I'm also wondering how to separate the tube from the brass part. I see 4 dimples, do they need drilling out to separate? I could probably reattach with the hole and cotter pin setup in the picture.



What have other members done to fix this?

How'd you go, any luck? I need some too i'll let you know if I find anything suitable

 

No luck yet. I've thought about making a fresh cut on the sides and bottom of the slot and then soldering in a fresh piece of brass stock to fill and then re cutting the slot. Also was investigating using jb weld or lab metal etc to just fill and recut the slot then painting. The caps I saw on ebay although listed as tri adjustable obviously are not I realized because theres no center hole for the rebound in the preload piece. I suppose If I had a lathe and knew how to use one this would be easy! I'm hesitant to try to drill out the dimples on the rod from the brass part at this point, but I wonder if the later models have the same size rebound hole size drilled inside of the preload adjust part. I know the forks are larger in diameter but wondering if we could use F4 rebound and preload parts in our caps? Maybe would still need to swap over the long tube that actually does the adjustment.
